Best Smart TV for Streaming: What to Buy

If you are buying a new TV and streaming is a priority, here is what to look for.

Best Smart TV for Streaming: What to Buy

Best OS for streaming: Android TV / Google TV

Android TV and Google TV have the best app support for streaming. They support IPTV Smarters, TiviMate, and sideloading. Found on Sony, TCL (Google TV models), Hisense (Android models), and others.

Second best: Samsung (Tizen)

Samsung TVs are high quality but have limited streaming app options. You can use the web player, but an external device is recommended for best results.

Third: LG (webOS)

LG TVs have great picture quality but limited apps. Same as Samsung — use the web player or add an external device.

Avoid for streaming: Roku TV

Roku TVs have the most limited app support. No sideloading. Only buy a Roku TV if you plan to use an external streaming device.

Other features to look for

Ethernet port (important for streaming), 4K resolution, good WiFi receiver, multiple HDMI ports, and a fast processor. OLED and QLED have the best picture quality.
