Google TV Streaming Setup Guide

Google TV is the latest version of Android TV. Here is how to set up streaming on Google TV devices.

Google TV Streaming Setup Guide

What is Google TV?

Google TV is the updated interface for Android TV, found on newer Chromecast devices and Smart TVs from Sony, TCL, Hisense, and others.

Installing streaming apps

Google TV uses the Google Play Store, same as Android TV. Search for IPTV Smarters, TiviMate, or other player apps and install directly.

Casting from phone to TV

You can cast from your phone to Google TV using the Cast feature in compatible apps. However, for Xtream Codes streaming, installing a player app directly on the TV is better.

Google TV vs Android TV

Google TV and Android TV are essentially the same platform. Google TV has a redesigned interface and content recommendations. All Android TV apps work on Google TV.

Troubleshooting Google TV

If apps crash, clear cache in Settings > Apps. If streaming buffers, check internet speed. Google TV supports sideloading like Android TV, so you can install APKs not in the Play Store.
